Title: Dragonfly Wing
material: marble, ash wood cabinet, LED lighting, plywood plinth
size: 140 (h, including plinth) x 29 (w) x 30 (d) cm
This work formed part of an installation at Down County Museum (2017), informed by research into the use of light and space in relation to medieval, Cistercian architecture, (Inch Abbey, Downpatrick).
The original use of uncoloured glass in the lancet windows, etched with intricate, geometric patterns, would have created a soft, diffused light in the unadorned, sandstone interior.
Inch Abbey is sited next to the Quoile River, surrounded by reeds, rushes and the flora and fauna associated with wetlands.
