When you grow up by the water, whether it’s the sea, rivers, or a temperate rainforest, I think these watery landscapes become strongly associated with a sense of home. On daily walks along by the Quoile river, Gibbs Island or the shores of Strangford Lough, I have become more appreciative of water as an element that is constantly moving, transforming and transporting…a good metaphor for how to stay awake to life and the cycles of renewal and rebirth.
